About

Manamita Datta

Rooted in realism, always evolving — colour, texture and the quiet business of paying attention.

I’m a self-taught artist, zoology postgraduate and lifelong science enthusiast based in Kolkata, India. My work sits at the intersection of observation and imagination, and moves between semi-abstract form, texture and experimentation.

I work primarily in oil and acrylic, with occasional forays into watercolour, across realistic and semi-realistic works, moody landscapes, outer space scenes, and increasingly art about human nature, psychology and emotion.
